Your Role as a City Pastor

To offer practical and prayerful support to late night revellers, workers and rough sleepers on the streets of Bath by:

·     caring for, listening to, supporting and helping people;

·     assisting vulnerable or distressed people by trying to reunite them with friends, or to get them home safely.

·     If / when requested, taking time to pray with or for them;

·     where appropriate, offering hot drinks and warm blankets, cold water or flipflops;

·     clearing bottles, glasses and broken glass from the pavements.

 

Your responsibilities are:

·     to demonstrate the love of God in a respectful and practical way.

·     to operate as part of a team, under the direction of the night’s Shift Leader.

·     to coordinate effectively with other night-time services.

 

Your commitment.

·     Volunteer about once a month by signing up to the BCP website rota.

·     Be on duty on your chosen night at the Manvers Street Base from 9.45 pm to 3.00 am.

·     When out on patrol make your role evident by wearing a BCP uniform with logo.

·     Inform your Shift Leader of any personal health problems you may experience.

Updating your DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service)

 

You will be required to have a DBS check online. This may be through your church or other organisation. Please ensure that your application covers work with Children and Adults and that you sign up to the DBS Update Service immediately your new DBS is issued (free for volunteers). Your data will be stored online and, with your authorisation, BCP will be able to check your current status with the central database.
