Base Guidelines
CPs have access to Manvers St Baptist Church lower ground floor, - but are not to allow anyone else in (unless they have own keys). So the access door normally must be left locked.
Enter building. Enter via ramp at left side of the building, towards the rear.
For first to arrive, a torch may be handy if the entrance is dark. Access keys via key safe box situated on wall opposite the door. Enter the code 1348 (each button pressed must click when pushed down). N.B.: This code is not to be divulged to anyone outside CP Bath.
Remove three keys on ring: Main Entry door key (Mortice lock); Old Yale Key; & Storage cupboard Left hand door key.Close and lock key safe. To do this – enter code again to open the lock catch. If a mistake is made, press the central ‘clear’ button. Enter building via door opposite and lock door.
Check all accessible areas are unoccupied (three floors). This is not necessary if main door has not yet been locked by caretaker when arrive.
Listen / watch out for the rest of the team who are to knock on door.
Equipment is located in the first two cupboards on left in "Milsom Room". The Milsom Room and kitchen also have code 1348 (not to be disclosed to others). The key from the key safe will give access to the left hand cupboard, which houses two further keys: the key to the right hand cupboard door and a spare front door old Yale key.
Parking. Turn right beyond the building line and park in one of the marked bays.
We have been allocated six parking permits which are kept in the left hand cupboard. Please display promptly in your vehicle at start and remember to return all permits at the end of shift.
Exit by driving straight on in the direction of the railway station.
Briefing room and area for use during the shift is the Milsom Room.
General facilities include adjacent toilets, and kitchen.
Access code for toilets is on inside of our room door.Patrol. When everyone goes out on patrol, please lock any valuable personal items in cupboard, close Milsom Room, and exit door normally using main mortise lock (may also use old Yale lock). Should the team ever split into 2 groups there is a spare Yale key to allow 2nd team back in if required (without disturbing live-in caretaker !).
End of shift. Check the following:
Kitchen and rooms tidy, all chairs etc returned.
Parking permits and keys returned to CP cupboard and locked.
Check all accessible areas are free of intruders (three floors -. If there is any possibility that
rough sleepers may have slipped in unnoticed.)Turn off all lights and close Milsom Room and kitchen doors.
Exit with the three keys listed above, lock both door locks,
and secure the three keys in keysafe.
Emergency access. If the normal door will not unlock (perhaps the locking catch has been dropped on Yale), we have a key to the sliding main entrance door.
This is secured to the inner surface of the key safe to ensure it does not fall out inadvertently. So do not remove it except if required. The sliding door will not automatically open but will have to be prised open manually. Lock door after access. Replace this emergency key securely in keysafe.
