YMCA

If a person needs emergency overnight accommodation, the YMCA in Broad Street may be able to help, - providing the person concerned:

Is not a ‘street person’;

Does not have an animal with them;

Does not have serious mental health problems (such that their behaviour is likely to be erratic and unpredictable);

Is not likely to become violent or aggressive;

Is not at risk of harming themselves.

The YMCA hostel has 200 beds and operates with a minimal night staff, so they are not equipped to deal with major problems overnight. The above guidelines reflect this and are designed to prevent wasted journeys to the YMCA and false expectations on the part of people needing help!  The Duty Manager at the YMCA will decide whether it is possible or appropriate for someone to be offered a bed.  If in doubt, there’s no harm in asking!  (01225 325900) Payment will be required for the night’s accommodation.
